Whether it can be trekking, visiting pilgrims or camping for better knowledge it can be staying
at home and enjoying watching netflix. There are numerous ways to enjoy the weekend. We
have a much shorter life. Instead of exploring new places and making new friends, staying at home doesn’t feel right. So, here we come with a new exciting place called GaumukhTapovan trekking. So, without any delay, let’s explore this place in detail and try to find whether it suits us or not.
Gaumukh Tapovan:
Gaumukh Tapovan is considered as a sacred place. Tapovan got the name as the sages
used to meditate on this peak. It is situated at a height of 14,640 ft above sea level. It is
situated in the lap of Shivling peak, Glacier shrine. It is 258 KM away from Dehradun.
Highlight things at Tapovan:
It is famous for its lavising greenlands. Best thing about it is, it is covered with both snow and the green lands. Home for many flora and fauna. It is place for lots of vegetation.
Staying places at Trek:
Each and every trekker carries his/her own tents and sleeping bags. Camping can be done
on any flat surface along with your group members. Or else the trekking guides from
respective agencies provide those accommodation needs. Also, trekkers carry their snacks that are available in low altitude and advisable to carry but keep your surroundings clean. It is not advisable to throw the leftovers. It is a sacred place and it is home for many sages for meditation. So, respect that and enjoy your trekking by keeping your surroundings clean.
Who has to go for Trekking:
The level of trekking ranges from easy to moderate. So, it is advisable to carry the Guide along with you. It’s not beginner friendly but it can be done with little practice.
Complete guide of staying for a week:
Day-1: Dehradun – Gangotri
Gangotri is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Generally people start their journey from Rishikesh. To visit the Char Dham temples people start from Dehradun. The distance between Dehradun and Gangotri is 250 kms. It takes at least 7-8 hrs to reach the destination. You can visit Gangotri via 3 routes Rishikesh, Missouri and Devprayag. Each route has its own scenic beauty.
Day-2: Gangotri- Chirbasa
Chirbasa is a campsite and it takes at least 3-4 hours to reach Chirbasa. Chirbasa is a place for dusty mountains and beautiful streams flowing through the mountains. The distance is around 9 kms
Chirbasa- Gaumukh
Chirbasa is the last point to see the greenery lands. After that it resembles barren lands. Next stop is Bhojbasa and it is around 5 km away and it takes at least 2-3 hours to complete. It is advisable to fill the water bottles. Accommodation is available in Bhojbasa as ashrams and tents. As the permit for Gangotri is two days(you can extend based upon your trip), you can continue your journey from Bhojbasa Or staying at night and continuing your journey to Gaumukh is acceptable. It will be good if you visit Gaumukh on the next day.
Day-3: Gaumukh- Tapovan
It takes around 5 Km to reach Tapovan from Gaumukh. You can stay here a night for camping.
Day-5: Tapovan- Nandanvan/Chirbasa
You can get back to Bhojbasa which takes around 9 km to reach.
Day-4:Chirbasa- Uttarkashi
You can get back to Gangotri from Chirbasa which takes around 14 km. From there you can get back to Dehradun/ Rishikesh Or Haridwar.
Best time to visit:
It is advisable to visit during months of may – June( late summer and early to monsoon) and from sep – oct(since it is not advisable to do trekking on winters)

It takes at least 17k per person
Nearby places to visit: It is also surrounded with many fascinating places like Nandanvan,
Shivling peak and Bhagirati peak which are home for Trekkers and pilgrims.
Conditions:
As we know, our earth’s temperature is increasing every year. As the Tapovan is located on;the Gangotri Glacier, the glaciers are melting. So, to get rid of the hazardous havoc, the government restricted the number of people to visit. Every year only 100 are allowed. So, we can sense the demand and alert. So, before enjoying your trek, you have to travel with a group and update your information with your family. Enjoy your trekking.
